8 Months Old!

Summertime
George and Ollie are growing like weeds! George has 3 teeth and Ollie's should be arriving any day now. Ollie has started saying 'da-da-da' (all day, every day) and George loves sucking on his sippy cup. We kicked off summer with lots of visitors and walks on the beach. Life is busy but good. Hope you're enjoying the warmer weather too!

Baby Wrestling
When I left the room they were laying side by side....When I came back, this is what I found! George was actually pulling Ollie's foot towards his mouth (to suck on it). The end result....a very cute baby pretzel.
New Afternoon Routine
Georgie just cut his first tooth. What used to be peaceful, afternoon walks have now become hour-long wailing sessions. George can't help it; his gums hurt. And Ollie can't help being an empathetic brother. So, in light of these changes we now take a short walk to a grassy spot by the sea, play in the shade, and then head home.
Little Ozy Visits from Tennessee
Our friends Zondie, Otis and Little Ozy were able to visit for a couple nights. It was wonderful to finally meet Ozy....She taught the boys a few tricks while she was in town and they were definitely impressed!

Toes in the Atlantic
Nice visit to the beach with the boys- they were pretty excited by all the stimulation. And, as true Mainers, they didn't even flinch when I dipped their feet in the water (ok, they drooled/barfed, but, that's 24/7).

One Year Anniversary of Seeing Double
One year ago today Ben and I entered the ultrasound department at Eastern Maine Medical Center feeling dejected. My early pregnancy was already having some complications and we were worried that there was bad news to come. After an absolutely silent 45 minute ultrasound, Ben finally asked the technician to tell us what she could see. And she started by saying, "Well, here is the first heartbeat....and then there is the second." I started shaking so much we had to take a little break! In hindsight, May 13, 2008 stands out as the day I got the biggest surprise of my life. We had officially joined a club that we had never applied to or even hinted at wanting to belong to. And yet, there we were...official members.
So Ben and I have been seeing double for a year now. Since last May we have moved, Ben started a new job, we bought our first home, endured a very complicated pregnancy and delivery, and welcomed 2 new lives into the world. Even through all the hard things, it has been amazing. I am so thankful to my wonderful husband and loving family that helped me (and the boys) through the rough patches. What a year it has been!

Visiting Grandmom's House
This past weekend we took the boys to Massachusetts for the very first time. Here they are being cared for by a very capable Jackie and Grandmom!

Snuggle Attack
George continues his role as world class snuggler. When I put the boys down for their nap there was a good 2 feet between them. When I came back to check on them, George had migrated off of the blue cloth on to his brother's shoulder. There is no contest...Ollie is George's most favorite person.
